We, Ranjini & Ruchira, are two Indian foodies steeped in kitchen poetry. We first met years ago as neighbors in Chicago and food was the it factor right from that very first encounter. We were on our way to a community potluck. Not a week passed since then that did not involve the swapping of breakfasts, lunches and dinners. We have shared brick-like first breads, soups for the sick souls in our households, and also snuggled in cheer-me-up treats for each other when most needed.
Our inspiration for recipes comes from the culinary nuances we’ve picked up from kitchens across the world on our travels and the spices and staples in our pantry.
We believe that food is a great unifier and our blog is reflective of that sentiment. We grew up sharing food and stories with friends and neighbors, and learnt early on that no matter what the mood or underlying current, food brings families and communities together in inexplicable ways. We also learnt, from our Mothers, that being a slave of your own instincts in the kitchen can produce magical results. So, that’s what we try to do with our everyday cooking experiments, making sure we steer away from rules and rigmaroles.
Do check out our cookbooks and the workshops that we run in Bangalore.

Dear R & R…..
Please do keep up your good work and I was completely in love (for the moment) with some of the recipes you guys have posted in Tadka Pasta.
I have to try out the dishes with my wife, the Chocolate muffins, Risotto with Asparagus, Peas and Pearl Onions, Paneer in Roasted Red Pepper Curry and Coconut Caramel Sauce.
In this regard I have a query in regard to the Risotto. It’s not possible to get Arborio rice in Assam. Any rice which can best substitute it? We do have a brand of sticky rice, which is usually eaten with milk and jaggery.
Thanks
Sidhartha
Thanks so much for your comments, Sidhartha and we hope you try and enjoy our recipes. Arborio rice can be found at many specialty stores nowadays, but yes, you can substitute with a short grain, sticky rice..what you have described sounds fine. Do let us know how it turned out.
Thanks ..will update on it.
